What Are You Getting Mommy & Daddy For Christmas?
I need a few gift ideas for my parents (dad's a computer geek, mom's a ...well a mom).

What do you plan on getting your parents for the holidays?

I'm leaning towards getting my dad a Tivo and my mom a weekend getaway at a spa.

But if anyone has any better ideas, I'll gladly steal them. ;)

1. Get them a roomba, but only if they're cool
I got my parents a roomba but they're old farts and can't get into it.

2. I'm going to write out a check for their condo assessment fee
The idiots who do the budget "miscalculated" and there is a 1200$ assessment fee. It just came today (I review their bills so I get them first) so I am writing the check to keep my Mother from FREAKING out over the bill. Even though I will pay it--she will still be UPSET. I'm going to tell them it is in the mail and that it is their present. I am depressed. I love giving presents and paying a bill seems like a crappy gift. :(

I did already get them some Miller Rogaska crystal and pre-ordered Swiss Colony Truffles.

3. I am not sure
really you know, I dont know really.
I love the bastards but well if you guys dont mind I am gonna tell you what happened today, I get along good with my folks btw, so I wake up for school and tell my dad I aint feeling well, thats why youre seeing me this early guys I am staying home sick, so he basically tells me I am bullshiting him, I am like I aint dad, then he proceeds to tell me that I always do this which I dont, so I keep on trying to sway him and stuff, and he continues to lie about me, and then I yell JERK, he hears me and smacks me on my mouth, my mouth was bleeding and my braces are a little damaged. I forgive the guy but damnit Dad dont be an asshole. So Dad is gonna get a smack back :D.

6. I will remember them
by engaging in family traditions, putting up my tree, spending time with my brother's and sister's families, seeing my parents faces reflected in my siblings and their children. Listening to music, which we all enjoyed so much.

  I miss them. Holidays are the hardest and haven't felt the same since they've gone.

8. in all seriousness...
your touching post has broken my heart.

I was preparing to give my buddy Magic Rat one of my trademark smart-ass responses (to keep things lively) but then I read yours and I don't feel like elbowing anybody now. Regardless of when your loss occured, I am sorry for your deep and echoing loss.

12. Thank you, piece sine
It's been several years now since both of them passed away and I am usually not upset so much anymore.

But grief is a funny thing. It sneaks up on you at the oddest times, like an inocuous chat room thread. :eyes: LOL!

One of the things that does help is knowing that there are a lot of people who still get to spend time with their parents... and buy presents for them. :D

Both mine died in 2000
They were always pretty tough to shop for, though. I usually had to really think hard to come up with gift ideas.

15. This will be our first Christmas without my Dad.
He died this year because of cancer.

It's going to be a melancholy Christmas this year. It just won't be the same.
