Am I the only Solaris 10 user on DU???
I feel left out in the Microsoft versus Apple wars, as my primary systems use solaris 10 on sparc.

If you are not part of the 'big 2' post here and let us know what you use and how you like it.

My solaris 10 on a quad sparc system runs well, no viruses, no spyware, loads of cool features, and solaris 10 is free. Who needs winders anyway :)

Rebels unite! :)

1. Well...

I've never owned a Mac (did own an Apple II (the board software didn't like the square brackets) for 3 weeks once, before trashing it for an Atari 800).

Windows has never lasted on any of my machines for more than 60 minutes, before I had the machine formatted and another OS installed (Though I must admit, I did own a DOS machine for a while, the Atari Portfolio).

Right now, I'm a developer for a Linux distro, but I still use my Atari 8-bit and ST/TT machines, and my Amigas... Plus some NetBSD

2. I have a windows server as well
and I use it. I also used to work on macs a lot. I like em all and each has it's benefits.

But thesedays I am just as happy on solaris 10 and I don't need all the headaches from the big 2. I have 2 sun servers, 2 windows servers, and several other machines (aix, linux, and so on) which I dabble with.

Not sure I get the whole 'war' thing between OS'es - the more the merrier to me :)

4. Well, I've worked on them, I just have no interest in owning them.
I'm not much for OS wars myself. I tend to dislike Gates and Microsoft on a more personal level, due to what happened to some developer friends of mine years ago.

To be honest, I think a lot of my not wanting to use Apple and Microsoft products is the same reason I:

Joined the US Coast Guard instead of the other services... Used GEnie instead of CompuServe and AOL... Prefer programming in Modula-2 and Oberon-2 --- and the list goes on. I just like being ornery.

3. Fedora Core 3 here
Although with the random errors I've been getting lately, I may be wiping and upgrading to Core 4 soon. I'm just hoping it's not a hardware problem...but it might be since this is the first instability I've had since I set the machine up :(

5. I'm going to be installing Solaris 10 this week
I've downloaded it and made the instillation CD's. I'm going to be dual-booting with XP since I need Windows for school.
