Was the procedure really awful? Are you happy with it now?

I am an RN as Lasik surgery center.
Our procedures are very succesful with very little complication. Do you have a surgeon picked out already? If you do, you can go to your state medical licenses website to check him or her out.

No, can't even get anyone to look at it. There's enough work down here to keep those people busy for many years.

12. I have amazing close vision - could I lose it? |
|
Many of my hobbies involve very fine up-close work - I really value my close vision.

No, it was not really awful. It was amazing! I still wear glasses because I need them to read and I'm too lazy to keep putting them on and taking them off. But I see distance fine. I used to have really thick glasses.

14. My Doctor was able to completely correct my vision... |
|
I didn't do the monovision thing. I opted to let nature take it's course.
I'm now at 15/20 to 20/20 and I find I "look around" more... Meaning I use movement of my eyes instead of turning my whole head to see things.
An interesting thing I've noticed is when I first get up in the morning my vision is blurry for a minute or so. This is different from when I wore glasses. Because, it was blurry and then sharp as soon as I put on my glasses. *Gads* It's NORMAL!
It has been around 5 years since the correction and everything is great.
I love being able to wear off the rack sunglasses!

10. My glasses are just fine, |
|
Edited on Tue Nov-22-05 12:08 PM by Strong Atheist
thank you, after 18 years of wearing this particular pair. I am waiting for all of the problems that people who have had lasik might have ten or twenty years from now. Remember breast implants, and steroids, and plastic surgery, and the list goes on ... :scared:

16. I had RK about 10 years ago |
|
It worked great.
Unfortunately I'm back to glasses because my near vision is shot.
I wear them all the time at work because I can't read labels or see the syringe markings and I can't be taking time out to put on reading glasses (I'm a nurse)
I wear them all the time at home because if I take them off for even a few minutes, they're GONE! Iv'e probably got about 10 pairs of reading glasses in the house right now and have no idea where any of them are.

17. I did and it was nothing less than a MIRACLE in my life. Seriously. |
|
I had it done over 6 yrs ago, right before I turned 35. I'd been wearing glasses and contacts for over 30 yrs, since I was 5, so it was a huge, huge change for me to be able to see clearly.
The procedure itself was very quick and painless. I had an excellent doctor who had done thousands and thousands of them, so I felt I was in good hands.
Best money I ever spent. At some point I might need to resort to reading glasses, since the procedure doesn't treat the natural aging of the retina. No biggie, as far as I'm concerned!
I've already gotten more than my money's worth!! It's been a HUGE gift of transformation in my life and I give thanks everyday for my ability to see clearly.

:hi: Good to see you--
I was just reading this to see others' experience with this. My opthalmologist says I'm a good candidate for the surgery. I checked into it a few years ago. Even attended an information session at the surgery center, etc. I was too chicken.
I'm thinking about it again, seeing so many here who've been so happy with their experience.
Thanks for weighing in on this one!

I don't have the $$. I have astigmatism in my left eye which shoots the costs beyond me.
