Can I accomplish at 41 what I accomplished at 15? (anyone got a celebrex?)

In the summer of 1978 my little league girls all star softball team defeated the reigning state champs in a do or die doubleheader to win the NJ state championship. It was a sunny summer afternnon, 95 degrees, Bob Lemon had just been made manager for the rest of the season with Billy Martin to return the following year. It was Thurman Munson's last season.

I wore number 15 and I also was a catcher. And I caught both games of the double header because my coach said the team needed me to.

Flash forward to 2003-

Because our divisional championship game was rained out last night, we have to play it tonight, and if we win, we immediately afterward have to play for the league championship, with $1000 riding on the outcome. That's a doubleheader beginning at 7:30 pm in 45 degree weather. It's a co-ed league, at least 3 women have to be on the field at all time.

I don't know if the coach will ask me to catch both games - part of me (my knees to be precise) hopes he doesn't -

But part of me........wants to know if I can do it.

You'll get on the field and those competitive juices will start to flow. When (not if) you win the first game, you'll be in a really good position to win the 2nd because you'll be all warmed up. Go get 'em!

We are the champions.......

We did it.

The first game we came back from 9-2 deficit and won in the bottom of the 8th inning.

The second game we won pretty easilly - I had a couple hits in that game, but the big thing is that I caught both games. Hmmmmm, is that the smell of bengay I smell?

So the answer is - YES, I REPEATED AT 41 WHAT I DID AT 15.

And Magic Rat, my second favorite thing is pitching, but I'll have to work on it over the the off season!
