Satellite/Cable/internet questions |
|
So we're going to be moving and need to choose if we want satellite or regular cable, keeping in mind that we need high speed internet also. I've always been afraid of satellite companies since, I always feel I'm getting ripped off if they give me all thsi free stuff (dish, dvr, box etc). But Dishnetwork is having a great deal right now with DVR and free HD recievers and the sorts.
I just bought an HDTV so I know I want HD, any suggestions one way or the other. How does a dish hold up during monsoon season? Can I add a DVR system to either one or do I need to buy their dvr system? I heard that dish has more HD channels than cox or comcast or whomever.
Any electronics geeks out there that can help me out? Thanks :)

1. In my experience, satellite TV is way better than digital cable |
|
And it held up during bad weather. Only time we lost signal was when it would get snowed in.
But satellite is awful for internet. Not sure about HD or DVRs though.

2. We use satellite for TV and cable for internet. |
|
We've had DirecTV since 1998.
My dad has HDTV, and he also uses DirecTV.

Cable TV is too expensive and I did not have good trajectory to use Dish Network.
