BitTorrent help please!
I dl'd the bittorrent client; now where do I go to find the best selections of shows? There are some TV shows I've missed. How do they play once I've downloaded them?
I'm blonde......

1. Try this site. Selection seems pretty good for TV shows
http://www.torrentreactor.net/

Along with software, music, or uh.. whatever else you might be interested in.

Video files will probably be in the typical formats. AVI, MPEG, MOV, etc, so if you have the usual Windows Media Player and Quicktime player, they should work.

BTW, if you are firewalled, you'll need to open ports for the bittorrent client, or your downloads will be SLOW.

3. Are you using a router?

If your answer is no then you most likely don't need to forward your ports.

http://www.portforward.com/ -- Is a good resource.

For shows I usually use http://www.mininova.org
also http://www.tvtorrents.com and
http://www.newtorrents.info/?all=tv

You could also check out http://del.icio.us/tag/torrent+tv for links to differnt sites.

I use VLC for playback. It can playback pretty much everything without fussing with installing codecs.

6. In your router software,
there should be an option for "Port Forwarding" where you can select a range of ports to be left open, to allow others to access the torrent on your machine. For a torrent client this should typically be ports 6881 - 6889. Your download rate will be relative to your upload rate so if you're behind a router firewall your download rate will be much slower.

4. try
torrenyspy.com and/or mininova.org. Everything should be pretty clear, especially on mininova.
