My cat just caught a fly in midair
and then ate it. I applauded. I thought it was very impressive.

Do your pets ever do funny stuff?

My cats did before they decided to stop doing anything. But they're still cute!

3. Yeah we've got one of those too
She's 15. She just lies around inbetween eating, pooping, and puking. And hissing at me. She doesn't like me.

2. My cat...
I have an old couch, and I cover it with a nice blanket. Well, every day that blanket gets pulled out, so I have to drape it back onto the couch. And, without fail, every time I do so, my cat comes running and dives under the blanket. He'll even do it from upstairs, just race down the stairs and bam! under the blanket he goes. Every time.

4. My cat runs into things a lot.
We don't know if she has a sight problem or if she's just stupid. She'll be running at a full clip, and then BAM! Right into a wall. Sometimes she just stares at the wall for no good reason. My ferrets do too many funny things to list here. Your cat sounds very impressive!

7. Hee hee I've seen that
too. It funny cuz they get surprised when they actually catch one- then they start chewing and stuff.

Can't imagine what a fly tastes like.

9. Flies are good
Crunchy and sweet.

You've just got to be really, really fast to catch them.

10. Did he do this, too?
My cats go NUTS chasing flies, and one of my cats (the smarter one) will actually partially lift one paw to see if he got the fly--the usual routine is as follows:

1. Leap around the apartment like a demented lemur in pursuit of said fly.

2. Finally catch fly by grasping it between two front paws, mid-air.

3. Drop to the ground with front paws still together in prayer-like formation.

4. Lift right paw slightly to the side to see if fly is still there (and in proper position for snacking).

5. GODDAMIT it flew away when I lifted my paw!....gotta go chase it all over again!

This cycle repeats a few times before the fly is knocked senseless enough that it doesn't fly away when the lift-paw-and-check routine is performed.

11. I have one cat that yearns to catch (and probably eat) moths. My
other cat actually ate a cockroach once. I saw it with my own eyes. Wouldn't have believed it otherwise. I get to LIVE "Fear Factor" - 'eh?
