Good Thursday Morning and HAPPY THANKSGIVING, Everybody!
:donut::hi:
I hope you have a fantastic day today with your families and friends! I am going to my bosses house for Thanksgiving dinner tonight so I don't have to be alone, and I plan to stuff myself so full, they are going to have to roll me out the door to get me to leave!

What I am thankful for:

My beautiful husband! We've been together for 10 years and I don't know WHAT I'd do without him!

All my friends here on DU! You folks bring a light to my mornings and help me start each day right so I'm not a sourpuss all day long!

 for all of you!

And to Greekspeak: :hug::loveya: I love you, Honey and I can't wait to see you on Sunday!

How's everything in merry ol' England? I know you don't have Thanksgiving there, but are doing special today "just because"? Or is just a regular work day?

21. All jolly here.
It's just a normal day here. We have a long time without a public holiday, there is one in August then nothing until we get 2 days for Christmas and 1 for New Year (the Scots get 2 at New Year).

A little while ago the P.M. opined publicly about whether we should have one - and some folk suggested we should have Trafalgar Day as a national celebration (there isn't a 'national day' really), but we didn't even get that this year when it was the 200th anniversary. There is a push each year to get St. George's Day (he's Patron Saint of England), but there's already a cluster in late spring and the present government isn't keen at all.

But somehow, I don't think they'd care too much WHAT I thought. I hope you have a great day nonetheless!

43. I certainly appreciate your opinions
Especially when they mean less work for me. :D

I think one of the points is that there should be a national celebration - at the moment we get religious feasts (Christmas, Easter) and fairly random days. Whilst for folk like me the religious ones do have significance - most pretty much ignore that side. There is also May Day, which is supposed to be the Day of the Workers - but I doubt that many even know that. The nearest thing to a national day is probably the Queen's Official Birthday - but that's always on a Saturday, and apart from a crowd gathered in Horse Guards' Parade - plus a few television viewers, most don't even know that it happens.

The day's just got even better - as I've had my lunch which always cheers me. :D

The Duck will take hours to cook until the skin is crispy enough to please me. The cord wood is under 3 inches of snow that wasn't here yesterday and it's not getting stacked today. Nope, I'm gonna find a football game to watch.

I'm weighing myself today to see how much weight I gain this weekend. I'm hoping none.

Turkey skin, buttery mashed potatoes, gravy, and pie are all calorie-free right?

It's that stupid green bean casserole that chunks us up, right?
