a free software project worth checking out.
this is a way for you Windows users to see what open source software is all about. Below is a site that offers various software titles you can download. You can go to the software page, (The Programs) click on the software name and you will be sent to the home page. If you don't have broadband, I would suggest picking the individual titles to download from their home pages.

Slashdot has mentioned it, so it might be slow going for a bit, but it is worth it for the curious or the people on tight budgets.

Here it is:

I like Gimp, OpenOffice, Mozilla, and Celestia.

1. Thanks for the tip.
I'll add your link to my Freedomware page at http://www.freedomware.us/ when i find time to do some work on it.

I've been dealing with some Windows problems and recently lost Microsoft Office in the process (at least temporarily), so I downloaded OpenOffice just a couple days ago. I was able to open my Word documents and Excel spreadsheets - and it didn't cost me a penny!

Is Gimp the graphics program? I'm trying to decide if I want to spend $750 for Adobe's Creative Suite update. I already know how to use PhotoShop, which is the industry standard, but that sure is a lot of money.

2. Gimp is good, it is no where in the league of Photoshop, but
It works, and works well. Photoshop has the crown, but Gimp is a fine piece of software you may find useful.

Look for Blender too. It is a 3D program.
