2. I liked the 90s.
I am already nostalgic for 90s music.

I haven't gotten the hang of the 00s yet.
Not really having any fun. :(
It might have something to do with bush.

3. I find myself agreeing with much of the sentiment in this recent song
(such is the fate of a Generation Y-er)

Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair
In 77 and 69 revolution was in the air
I was born too late to a world that doesn’t care
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair

When the head of state didn’t play guitar,
Not everybody drove a car,
When music really mattered and radio was king,
When accountants didn’t have control
And the media couldn’t buy your soul
And computers were still scary and we didn’t know everything

Chorus

When popstars still remained a myth
And ignorance could still be bliss
And when God Save the Queen she turned a whiter shade of pale
When my mom and dad were in their teen
and anarchy was still a dream
and the only way to stay in touch was a letter in the mail

Chorus

When record shops were on top
and vinyl was all that they stocked
and the super information highway was still drifting out in space
kids were wearing hand me downs,
and playing games meant kick arounds
and footballers still had long hair and dirt across their face

Chorus

I was born too late to a world that doesn’t care
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair

17. Have you heard "1000 Years of Popular Music"?
Playboy magazine asked Richard Thompson for his list of "Best Songs of the Millenium"--back in 1999. Richard took the request quite seriously.

5. Oh how I missed the 70's
Walking home from Grade school, passing by the Mack's house, Boston blaring in the background where Jimmy Mack was always working on his mustang and would always show us kids auto parts while we all went glossy eyed.

At that time we'd think "when we get to be teenagers we're gonna be JUST LIKE THAT!!"

6. Definitely the 1930s
Going through the door of my apartment is like going through a time machine. What the hell, it's comfy for me :-)

8. I'm stuck in the '40s and I'm only 19!!!
Being a WWII buff has its downsides. The other day I had to prepare a handout for a presentation involving WWII in my history seminar and before I began I told everybody "I hope you like the font on the handout. It's art-deco, which was popular at the outbreak of the war..."

Gotta suppress those nerdy impulses. But at least the TA liked it.

if I should feel good about that or not. :hi:

11. Yeah, that one hits close to home.
I don't think your daughter was giving you a compliment.

"Her two kids in high school tell her that she's uncool 'cuz she's still preoccupied with 1985."

13. stuck in the 60s but was never there...
Born in '72...
My Mom used to say that if you remember the 60s then you weren't really there. My logic was that I didn't remember the 60s therefore I must have been there.

14. Happily stuck in the 80-early 90s
If you looked at my average playlist you'd swear no music has been recorded since 1995.

15. Me too. I love that era. Though not the clothes, so much.
Unless we're talking the basic black wardrobe.

19. Basic black leggings, big shirts, big hair,
and little lace-up boots.

Man, I wish bigass shoulder pads were still in--they make your waist look way smaller...

18. it's a mix for me
I think I am somewhere in the 23rd Century and my cell-phone is dead.

Our house is stuck in the fashionable part of the 50's though, as far as furniture goes.

20. The 1970's. It's kind of gross, polyester and all.

At least I don't smoke pot anymore. But you'd have to be high to approve of the way I dress.

21. I can't remember this morning, how can I live in another decade?
Then again, I don't always remember what decade I'm in now. I just sort of hang on and hurtle through it.
