1. Having lots of carbs causes retention of water.
So a significant portion of the 5 pounds may be that.

4. True dat
Also, my inlaws took us out to eat at a lot of asian buffets while we visited (asian buffets in California are a different bird than the ones here...as in far better food quality.)

5. It probably is water weight.
Drink lots of water, eat normally, and you'll probably be back to normal pretty quickly.

(I always step up my exercise as holiday time, because I enjoy eating, and I don't want to deprive myself of the treats that only come this time of year.

Now, if only I had some Old Dutch potato chips for New Year's Eve... :D )

6. Any time you want a care package, just let me know
Any particular flavor you like? Dill Pickle is a hit with my son!

7. I felt so gross after this weekend that I went running WAY too long,
and now I feel like I have asthma (I don't.) I'd probably have to run for about 24 hours to burn off all the crap I ate! Oh well, a week of being strict will erase it, I expect, and it sure was fun.

9. Exercise
I firmly believe the fact that I exercise regularly makes it harder for me to put on a few extra pounds when I indulge a bit.

Regular exercise makes your body more efficient at burning calories, even at rest.

11. That salad was perhaps the healthiest thing I ate all week!

I never realized how high in carbs asian food is...all the noodles, etc.

13. And Christmas isn't even here, yet.
Kidding. 5 pounds are nothing. You'll get rid of them with ease, no worries. And after you did, can you get rid of my 30? Just asking. ;)

14. My (undiagnosed) OCD makes me nuts when I try to lose weight.
I'm always getting on the scale, and most of what I've heard (from my wife, who's actually read up on such things) says that you should only weigh yourself once as week, as weight can fluctuate up to 6 pounds during the day. It's very discouraging to see those changes. I also drink a LOT of water, which certainly contributes to those fluctuations.

16. Just more of you to love, my dear!
:pals:

Seriously, you have my sympathies....I'm betting it's mostly water weight which can be reduced by cutting out the carbs.

Good luck and know you're loved, regardless of whatEVER number is on the damn scale.
