Jonathan Brandis, Actor Dead at 27 yrs old...
Edited on Fri Nov-21-03 09:16 AM by xultar
Jonathan Brandis, who from an early age appeared in a string of roles on television, commercials and film, including the starring role in 1991's "The Neverending Story 2: The Next Chapter" and two seasons on Steven Spielberg's "SeaQuest DSV," has died. He was 27.

---SNIP---

Police said a friend of Brandis called 911 from the actor's apartment just before midnight on November 11 to report Brandis had attempted suicide. Paramedics transported Brandis to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, but he died the next day, police Detective Gene Parshall said.

---SNIP---

Brandis also starred as crew member Lucas Wolenczek in the underwater sci-fi series "SeaQuest DSV," a role that garnered him a Young Artists Award in 1993 and helped turn him into a teen idol.

MAN I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS

1. It's about time some of the major networks caught on to this story....
I have been wondering for 3 days if this was really true or an internet rumor because no major media has picked up on it.

5. Simple answer: he was ill
Whatever circumstances may have triggered it probably doesn't matter. The poor fellow was ill. Yeah, I know I don't need to make this point here but I always do. We have to keep focused on the fact that suicide is a disease, a combination of depression and social disconnection. It's also the kind of disease for which the patient may not have the capacity to seek treatment.
Be observant and don't shrug off your worries. The late twenties seem to be an especially critical time for a lot of people and don't discount your suspicions if someone seems happy and successful. Remember "Richard Corey" by Edward Arlington Robinson.

4. Truly tragic.
It makes no sense at all. Shame on the media for letting this one slip through their fingers. He was a promising young man.
