Well, I have an evening of excitement planned.
My aunt and uncle are at my parents' house--they came in from Port Arthur and their home was damaged by Hurricane Rita--so they brought two hours worth of video of their home and yard, and invited me over to watch it tonight.

I know you guys are really envious that you won't be a part of this wonderful, adrenaline-producing experience.

The good thing, though, is that my mom is buying a big box of Popeye's Fried Chicken for dinner.

So, see y'all later--I'm off to watch home movies and eat spicy chicken.

:hi:

2. Never heard of Roscoes.
Waffles and chicken? And y'all say we southerners will eat anything. Pfft!

4. It's an LA thing
Straight outa Compton!!!

I balked too, then I tried it. The food is Southern there, but with a soul food twist.

8. Roscoes is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
if you want to prevent your arteries from becoming a sludge-fest.

But it tastes mighty good! Of course you have to pour maple syrup over the whole thing, including the chicken.

7. LOL...for the video or the chicken?
I really do sympathize with my aunt and uncle...but watching a long video of their waterlogged carpet or missing fireplace--well, that's more likely to give me indigestion than the food. :D

5. mmmmmmmmm Popeye's!!!
Are you far enough south that they serve crawfish?

Or livers and gizzards?

North Carolina food, except for the barbeque is just far enough North to be dull as hell!

I envy you right now.

9. Oh, yes. Popcorn crawfish, fried gizzards...yep.q
I'm an hour or so north of NOLA.

I had oysters and fish at Middendorf's in Manchac, LA just a couple of weeks ago. My god was it delicious.

Good food here, in Mississippi. Haven't tried fried chitlins yet, but it's on my to-do list.

19. "Come over for a drink. We're showing our trip-to-Egypt slides."
An actual conversation.
"You're shitting me."
"What?"
"You're really showing slides of your trup to Egypt? Let me guess..pyramids?'
"Yeah. We climbed to the very top! Just at sunrise!!"
"We get to see photos of you and Marilyn climbing to the top of the Great Pyramid? Be still my heart. What else. Pictures of you shopping in the souk?"
"How'd you know?"
"Aw...MAN? Can we just come for a drink and skip the slide show?"
