Austin area DUers: Invite to come hear me sing

Just a reminder that my chorus, The Tapestry Singers (Austin's Women's Chorus) is having it's Fall concert tomorrow night - Saturday November 22 at 7:30 pm. It's at the Central Christian Church at 1110 Guadalupe. Tickets are $8 in advance (contact me) and $10 at the door.

You're all invited. It should be lots of fun. The theme for this concert is Raising Our Voices, Finding Our Peace. We're singing a wide variety of styles. Everything from Gershwin to spirituals to shaker hymns. We're doing a piece in Zulu...and an Aretha Franklin medley. :-)

1. Aretha, huh, Vel?

Well, don't forget "Freedom", then. That's my fave Aretha song. Let's all get together and sing it in Jan. 2005!

2. Freedom is in the medley...

and I have to say that I just love the part I sing in it. I'm a second alto and our part just rocks. We really get to belt it out, which is way fun. The rest of the medley is "Say a Little Prayer for You", "Natural Woman", and "Respect".

"Freedom" is tied for my favorite Aretha song. I'm also a big fan of "Chain of Fools".
