That susnset looks like a good candidate for the "green flash." I've never seen it, but from the descriptions I've read, that's the kind of sunset where it happens.

I've shot Nikon since I got my first 35 mm SLR back when dinosaurs roamed the earth (I've got some *great* pics of Adam & Eve on their way to church on their triceratops).

I have bad, bad, bad Nikon-lust for the 8 megapixel digital SLR monster. If I'm *really* good, maybe Santa will bring it to me when the 10 megapixel super-monster comes out.

Still, half of the photography is in the brain that senses the "pretty stuff."

"Pretty is as pretty sees." And you see pretty.

but Canon and Olympus started applying pressure. They've produced and 8 megapixel camera in the Coolpix line.

That means the next step is significantly upward in megapixels in their SLRs.

You can change lenses on your D 50, no?

52. Yes, I can.....this was the primary reason for buying it.....

I kept my old lens from my Nikon N60....the film camera. It was only about 6 years old.....

The lens I kept is a Tamron 28-200 mm one.....It isn't quite as wide-angle as it used to be, which is OK......I forget why this is true.

But OTOH, it gets out to about 300 mm!

THAT makes me happy! I always want more mm's in the zoom department!

I don't plan on ever having another camera.....time will tell, though...

Never say never, but, by all means, never be afraid to recognize a classic when you have it.

I still do love film, especially B&W. It's the art of manipulating what happens to a finite piece of film as it happens that still intrigues me. I have a digital, as does my lovely wife, but I still return to the Nikon film cameras for the yeoman-work. Call me a Luddite. "OK, you're a Luddite."

How's your camera in the ultra-closeup department, as in single, blossoming buds?

54. It's not too bad.....there is a flower setting.....

And I have been able to get fairly close to the flowers...Plus that setting gives me the wonderfully fuzzy background that looks so cool...

My friend NV Whino has a wonderful macro lens....but those babies cost money!

Right now I just want to learn how to play with this one really well.

And that takes time, and reading the *** manual!

Good for you with your film work...I was NEVER any good in a dark room...

I will probably never do film again....this digital is way too much fun....

And it's hard to run out of pixels!
