How do you pronounce the word "Oil?"

I say: Oh-ill.

Not: Ohl.

Or: Oy-Yill.

Goddammit.

2. "Oy-uhl", the way God intended.
My grandfather, from Alabama by way of Texas, used to say: "Oaaaaaahhhhhhhullllllllllll". I'd never heard anyone take so long to say a one-syllable word.

12. Rhymes with mohel.
Or "soil".

The mohel foiled my soiled boil.

22. I say Oy-ill, and I'm from Texas. My family says Awl, though.
I have an undergrad degree in Theatre, and Voice & Diction classes enabled me to hear how I sounded to other people.

It wasn't an attractive accent, y'all!

30. "Ohl" when used in conjunction with "vinegar" (usually @ Subway) but "oyl"
when referring to the black stuff.

No idea why...
