Random. Some guy just came to my door wanting work.
He was creepy looking. Hooded sweatshirt up, hands in pocket. Did he really think I was going to open the door? He said something about cleaning gutters real cheap. Barely heard him over the barking of my dogs. Luckily, they go crazy. It's unusual that I would be home during the week (studying for LSAT).

Just kinda weird. He said he was from the neighborhood, but I've never seen him. Maybe he was casing the place. I hope not, I have a lot single elderly neighbors.

1. That is what sucks. You really can't trust anyone, but then
again some people need extra work for the holidays. I'd be leery too!

4. Exactly.
I wouldn't mind helping someone out like that and saving myself the hassle of dragging the ladder out, etc.

Come to think of it, he was on bike with no gear. Very strange.

2. If he was casing the place, I doubt he'll be back ( because of the dogs)
Still, there are plenty of whack-jobs out there

5. Yes, while they could easily be bribed with food, they sound tough.

3. Call the police, do not feel sorry unless he checks out
Especially someone in a neighborhood of the elderly. DO NOT LET FEELINGS overcome e the need to inquire who he is.

If he is not a junkie casing homes, give him money for food. This you will not regret.

There is no debate on this subject.

I once called b/c a drunk driver was in a ditch and was requested assistance in removing his vehicle so he could be on his way. Their response "we'll get to it, when we get to it." :wtf:

9. Some friends of mine had their house robbed last week; in the middle
of the day!

They live on a street by a school so there are people everywhere. They have an elderly neighbor who saw a man and a woman standing outside of their door ringing their bell. When they found out no one was home, they went around the back and forced open the bathroom window.

We have a dog who is very protective of our house. If anyone knocks on the door, he barks. I don't think anyone would get in while he is here. He loves people, but is cautious until he knows that someone is "ok".
