This last week at school, we had the annual sex talk with our 5th graders. We bring in two retired doctors and put the boys in one room and the girls in another and the docs do a great job.
BTW, all parents are given the opportunity to opt their kids out of this activity.
Anyhow, one of the boys got sick and fainted. Turns out he had the flu. But he is okay now.
Afterwards, one of the other boys was telling me about John fainting. He said "Yeah, Mrs. P, the doctor was telling us all about S-E-X (yes, he spelled it out) and as soon as he mentioned that word 'VAGINA', John fainted!"
LOL Some days (most actually) I really do love working with kids.

2. I think most schools do this |
|
It's in our curriculum. But I think we go it one better by asking the docs to do the talk.
And I am still laughing. Poor boys - I guess it's never too young to learn to fear that vagina.

12. Last year the parent of one teen boy I work with was asked |
|
by another teen boy... how long does sex take/last? She told him anywhere from 30 seconds to two hours. He looked stunned. The men on the staff are afraid that she has condemned him to a life of performance anxiety.

8. When I Was In 7th Grade |
|
I had to collect a bunch of kids' test papers from a Pop Quiz our history teacher sprung on us. One question had the answer, "Virginia." One boy misspelled it.
I guess I don't have to say how it was misspelled.

23. When I was in the 6th grade we had to see the film strip |
|
"Especially for Boys" (The girls saw the same film strip, but with the word "Girls" substited for "Boys"). There was to be question and answer session with the nurse afterwards. I knew in advance that I would have to cut out during the question and answer session to go to my piano lesson. So I had to go to our old principal, Mrs. Meili, and ask permission to leave. I was slightly embarrassed due to the nature of the film, but MOST OF ALL, because I KNEW she would think I was leaving early because I "couldn't take" the sexual information; which made me all the more nervous and embarrassed because I hate people thinking an embarrassing untruth about me even more than an embarrassing truth. I was a wreck when I asked her permission to leave. It was a no win situation for me.
