We sometimes call our kitten “Puppy Cat”, because like a puppy, he follows us where ever we go. So after I finished my Lucky Charms this morning and Merlin was not in sight—I became concerned.
First, I looked for him in the bedroom—under the bed, under the covers, in the closets. He wasn’t there. I investigated the second bedroom—not there, either.
“Merlin!”
I searched the living room—behind the couch, in the bookshelves, behind the computer, behind the TV, behind the stereo. There was no cat in sight—not even a “meow”.
“Merlin! Merlin! Merlin!”
I looked in the kitchen—in the sink, under the appliances. I looked in both bathrooms—in the shower, in the wastebasket, behind the toilet.
“Merlin! Merlin!”
After searching every room in the condominium I did it again, this time in nooks that were nookier and crannies that were crannier.
“Merlin! Merlin!” My cries were more frantic.
I rummaged through the condo a third time—more bewildered and desperate I looked behind closed closets and in cabinets beneath sinks. Returning to the kitchen it occurred to me that maybe he slinked in to a space that I opened and then closed behind him. So I looked in the kitchen cabinets—no luck. I checked the oven (even though I hadn’t opened it that morning)—not there. I glanced at the refrigerator and thought “yes!”—this had to be the place. I opened the refrigerator door and on the bottom shelf, next to the carton of milk sat Merlin. He walked out gingerly and scampered off to play with his toys as if nothing had happened.

One time my Garfield was missing and I was at work and my Mom looked everywhere. When I got home from work which was a little while later I opened up the fridge to get pop out and low and behold my Baby was sitting on the bottom shelf with some turkey cold cuts eating them.

a word of advice from a friend's true horror story:
leave your clothes dryer door closed at all times. I'm sure you can figure out the rest :-(
