What are your pet names for your pet(s)?
Poor dog is called Smoky Bear and Scooby Doo in addition to his real name which doesn't sound anything like these!

We call her sassy girl cause she's loud; also call her sis and sisser girl. Call him "berber" and both of them get called "prrrrowwww" and "brrrrat cats" because as part coons they are very chirpy.

And since they are litter mates I frequently refer to them as "the twins".

6. We have 3 dogs and 5 cats
and 7 fish. The dogs have earned the nic name "assholes" for being rowdy and just the oldest cat has earned her nic name "bitch" because she is one. The fish are un-named except for the huge plecostomus that we have, "big thing," that thing was only 3" long when my husband got him 3 years ago and now almost a foot long!!

17. Chaucer gets called "little man" most of the time.
He likes to sit in a chair with his hind legs up and lick his boy parts. The joke was made that kevsand envied the cat this ability--as most men would--and thus the name Little Man was born...

He also gets called Stupid Cat (a la Courage the Cowardly dog with Eustace) but that really is not terribly often.

Peace out.

"Sabi" is a river is Zimbabwe which used to be Rhodesia, and shes a
Rhodesian Ridge Back mix.
"Bongo" is an Australian Blue Heeler Mix and Bongo just seemed to be
appropriate. Mainly cause it's fun to say with an Australian accent and the end
sound of the name is so different from Sabi, so it's easier for them
to recognize their own names.
We got both from the pound.

50. Abbott is my cat's nickname, Evita is the Princess or Evie
Technically, at least on the Vet bills & prescriptions my boy cat's real name is Abbie. He was named after Abbie Hoffman. I just started to calling him Abbott because when I reprehend him for doing something bad I didn't want to associate Abbie with what I was doing. Only problem was he was always getting into trouble so he just responds to Abbott (which is Abbie Hoffman's given first name) more than he does to Abbie.

Plus, I got tired of correcting people when they thought he was a girl cat because whoever was asking didn't know anything about Abbie Hoffman.

So I I suppose his real name is Abbie but he'll always be known as Abbott.

54. Pet names
Well, the Siberian Husky's name is Bragi, after the Norse god of music - huskies howl and our Bragi is no exception.

The male greyhound is named Sam - his track name was Sizzlin' Sammy and we didn't want to confuse him what with all the other changes in his life.

The female grey's name is Hex. Her track name was Hexed. Again, we didn't want to confuse her and also Hexe is the German word for witch and I'm Wiccan.

Our older whippet's name is Ptah, after the Egyptian god. He came to us already named and since I've got a degree in Egyptology I was definately not going to change it.

Our younger whippet's name is Djet, after a first Dynasty Egyptian pharaoh. The Egyptians loved plays on words and Djet (pronounced Jet) is a little rocket when he runs, so it's appropriate.

Our rats are named Isis, Pallas, Hecate, Nepthysis, Ma'at and Seshet - for some of my favorite goddesses.

Finally, the guinea pigs are named Margarita and Spot. Margarita was my stepdaughter's and was named after her favorite drink. Spot got her name because my stepdaughter hadn't gotten around to naming her and her father (my husband) decided to do it. So he named her Spot because she has a spot of white on her face and a black spot on her back.

56. I have a cat named Devon
Edited on Mon Dec-05-05 03:05 PM by last_texas_dem
My mom started calling her that in honor of the girl we adoped her from (one of her library aides at the school library where she works). I thought that name was a little too prissy for her (no offense to any DU Devons) so I took to calling her Devonshire or Devon of the Shire 'cause it sounded so fancy for a little cat like her. (Yeah, I know this doesn't make much sense, considering I just said I thought "Devon" was too prissy for her, but I guess I have an odd sense of humor.) I also call her "Bird" b/c when she was a kitten she would make this little wimpy half-meow/half-whine sound that sounded like a bird. My dad and I also started calling her "Cuddles" in jest because she is one of those cats who only wants to be picked up and "cuddled" if she initiates it, which is about once a week or so. (Though she will put up with a certain amount of "cuddling" unititiated by her, but she's ready to bolt as soon as she gets free enough!)

61. His real name is Rusty
and he gets called RustyBusty. For some reason I rhyme all their names and my former sweetiepie doggy was Rubyduby (real name just Ruby). Yes, I picked my screenname after my dog. :)

62. Older cat: Hugabug or L'il' Monkey
Her real name is Polly. "L'il' Monkey" came about 'cause she's a polydactyl and when she was a kitten she was into everything. (Also called her Monkeybutt and Chucklebutt back then, too.) Mostly Hugabug nowadays.

Younger cat: "Ow! Stop that!" because she's still a kitten and is stuck in the bitey, scratchy stage right now.
