How the hell is American Dad still on??
This has to be the crappiest, worst written animated show EVER. Afer Family Guy, this show is a complete drag.

1. The Freepers probably watch it and cheer....
....because they're too fucking stupid to realize the show is a total satire of that mentality.

Paul Lynde...sheesh...like we missed his voice. Phyllis Diller to block.

To each its own.
It's not as funny as Family Guy (not many things are), but I usually get a decent chuckle or two out of it.

10. Because it's funny and totally anti-republican
Edited on Sun Dec-04-05 09:53 PM by Rabrrrrrr
Maybe you just missed it or something, but this is a show that is adamantly anti-right wing. Yeah, it makes fun of the left, but always in a rather loving and merely chiding way -- it's criticism of the right is nasty, vicious, and well-deserved.

I don't see why you think there is a problem with this show.

Perhaps you have no sense of sarcasm, irony, or humor?

And, beyond the political stuff, it's just goddamned funny. Not in the bizarre way that Family Guy is funny; or the socially cantankerous way that The Simpsons is funny; but it's goddamned funny.

17. I'm with you there
I look forward to it as much as to Family Guy. I think Roger is a great tribute to one of TVs greatest funnymen, Paul Lyde too, and way beyond due. Stan Smith is such a pisswad that his antics are even funnier than they probably should be.

The episode where he is in the race to be deacon of their church is my favorite, and the family milks reproductive fluid from Roger to put in the potato salad. He hires Karl Rove to assist him with his campaign, and he's Satan... LOL... And at the end he renounces his win and tells the congregation that he's posessed by the devil...

I am laughing just thinking about it.

I also love the one where his daughter has the affair with his boss at the CIA. "Silence man-horse!"

18. Did you mean: "How the hell is The War at Home still on?"
Edited on Mon Dec-05-05 11:13 AM by jane_pippin
Because while American Dad isn't the best animated show ever, it's entertaining enough to have on while I wait for Curb Your Enthusiasm to come on, or while I wrap gifts, do the dishes, etc.

The War at Home, however--2 seconds into it and I find myself wishing that TV sets came with red hot pokers that would pop out of the set and just jam themselves into my eyes and ears so I wouldn't have to be exposed to that horrible "show." I can't change the channel or hit mute fast enough when that pile of crap comes on.

Edit:
And did you say Family Guy is the worst animated show? Come on now! Family Guy is hilarious, and American Dad has its moments. While Seth McFarlane is rolling around in his pile of money, he's going to shed a tear and it will be all your fault. :D

29. My theory...
Fox cancelled Family Guy, and the DVD collections sold so well and so quickly that Fox resigned FG because they realised they'd prematurely cut a sleeper hit cash cow.

So now they'll be very hesitant before they yank anything by McFarland, just so they don't make the same mistake twice.

I don't really care for it... I only watched it once, and it was ho-hum. I'm sure when they come out on DVD I'll rent them and watch them all... maybe I'm missing something.

20. Well
considering FOX' track record, I don't know why you try to rationalize the cancellation or non-cancellation of a show on that station.

That said, the few episodes I was able to watch indicate a very good show. Maybe it is my outside perspective, but I don't see your problem.

27. Same recycled plot for every episode
Roger gets sick of being cooped up
Steve has a problem only Stan can solve
Hayley does something subversive to get back at Stan
Francine feels neglected and does something to get Stan to notice her

The only funny character on the show is Klaus.

28. crappy follow-up to family guy
it seems like they (the creators/fox) were simply trying to imitate the success of family guy with the same model. it works for the family guy, but it's just obviously not as good a product as family guy.
