Semi-obscure rock music trivia
1. Lyric: “Art as expression, not as market campaigns, will still capture our imaginations”. What band? What song?
2. Tesla: where is the band from?
3. Via “band association”: go from Simon & Garfunkel to Gloria Gaynor in one step (hint: think cover tunes)
4. Who is Rick Emmett?
5. What band did Glenn Campbell play rhythm guitar for at one time?

Off to watch NOW for an hour.

1. Well, "Rick" (actually Rik) Emmett
Edited on Fri Nov-21-03 09:08 PM by nownow
Was the guitarist for Canadian prog-pop band Triumph. His solo albums actually weren't half bad -- quite palatable for those who liked rock guitar pyrotechnics, but he's not the world's greatest songwriter.

On edit -- lyricist, I guess I meant. He actually is pretty good at melodic guitar pop. He also played an acoustic duet with Kim Mitchell (who the hell is *he*) on a song on 'Rockland' called Expedition Sailor.

Unless there's a Rick Emmett out there, in which case ignore me.

Glen Campbell played rhythm guitar for the Beach Boys before he made it as a proto-singer-songwriter.

7. Here's another one:
Jerry Garcia quit a band because, in part, he felt incompetant to play the instrument he was playing in it.

What was the band, and what was the instrument?
