look at this re-designed dress of Laura's
a freeper (user name Dawnn) re-designed Pickles' ball gown. Gotta wonder why the wife of the world's most powerful man can't find a designer who can do this for her:

BEFORE

AFTER

40. EXCELLENT caption!
Must be hard for laura, what with all the Kennedy stuff all over the airwaves this week - especially the carrying on about the ever-so-stylish and graceful and elegant and cultured and multi-lingual and REALLY compassionate Jackie. Eat your heart out, laura mow-em-down-at-the-stop-sign bush!

6. Both designs are too fussy. Lose the pleats. Period.
The dress would be beautiful with just a plain skirt - no pleats, no tucks, no darts.

20. The pleats are ok in a dress such as this, it shows off the luster of the
fabric.

BUT THE RIGHT GLOVES WOULD HAVE HELPED.

You simply don't wear long sleeve gloves with a long sleeve gown.

Argh.

What? She couldn't step around the Piccadilly Circus and grab a pair of gloves that were appropriate?

Please.

27. Sorry. Her hips are too wide for that fussiness. The luster of the fabric
is apparent without the pleating. Maybe Uma Thurman could pull that off, but not Pickles. A flare at the bottom perhaps.

9. Amazing! That's like a 400% increase in bettermentalism
The redesigned option is so much better.

Amazing that a freeper could do it.

And even more amazing that the wife of the most powerful man in the world can't find a designer worth a shit.

(also agree with the poster who said to get rid of the pleats - they really don't work on this dress).

And yes, the queen looks uncomfortable, but so would you if you had to stand next tot he stupidist person you've encountered, but who also happens to be the leader of the world's most powerful nation.

Look how nicely the queen is standing, and how hunched over the SHITHEADINCHIEF and Laura are.

That person photoshopped the pic and they didn't come up with what's wrong with the photo in the first place?

Get a clue! It isn't the neckline, Dammit! x(

She has the wrong gloves for that dress. She should:

1) wear a sleeveless, strappless, or short-sleeveed gown or

2) wear wrist-length gloves, like the queen.

16. yes, yes...
...the freepers are unhappy about the gloves, too. They decided that no one thought of the fact that gloves would be protocol and ran out at the last minute to get something. It's hard to believe that a WH social secretary and protocol staff wouldn't think of gloves. These are too long, too white, and don't fit.

23. WHITE gloves? Thanks for representing American women, Pickles!
Edited on Sat Nov-22-03 01:24 PM by tjdee
That outfit is seriously, seriously, a nightmare.

The white gloves are TOTALLY wrong. The wrong color, length, everything. They're blinding next to that dark burgundy.

Can you imagine what she would dress like if she had no personal designer??

????

Very, very scary. I mean, wear what you want, but when you're representing me to the women of the world, Mrs. Bush, I'd appreciate some inkling of style and class. Props to the freeper for improving that mess--she should send it to Laura's office.

24. She's supposed to wear white gloves and the wrists must be covered.
The length of the glove may even be prescribed, but they could be a tad tighter. And the overall effect doesn't seem to have been a consideration.

29. black lace gloves would have worked. It's sad that short white gloves
are required with formal wear. Is that to keep you from giving the Queen jerms? It's really outdated and ridiculous looking, but black lace would have suited the dress. She should have demanded an exception. After all her hubby is an Emperor!

I didn't know that white gloves were mandatory.
I'm wondering if she knew that, LOL--they just seem so out of place and slapped on....but thank you for pointing that out, I didn't know they had to be white.

25. I know this is about Laura
and the absolute mess that is her appearance in that pic. I'm not a fashion expert, or a layman for that matter, but even I know she looks horrid in that pic. (I give myself points for noticing the gloves being totally wrong before reading a post about that)

Quick question. Is that color wrong for her skin tone and hair color? The whole thing just seems wrong on all levels.

But egads! He looks like a fucking chimp standing there! He gives the appearance that standing upright is the latest trick Cheney taught him.

Laura, honey, sweetie, it's not the dress, it's that 170-pound ball-and-chain accessory. Lose that, and you can wear whatever the hell you want, with my blessing.

Seriously, there's something so *off* about his body language. i don't know what it is, exactly; he's just *wrong.*

38. The glaring white gloves scrunched down
to the wrists make her hands look huge and her arms look long. She looks like she's expected to handle biohazardous materials. Her aides should have cut off the gloves and hemmed them for her

She wears too many two piece outfits that slice off at the hip in the wrong place. The re-designed tunic takes twenty pounds off her hips because the neckline goes vertical, and the diagonal lines create illusion. The color looks too rosy for her. Maybe if it was more maroon (a slight brown color shift) she would look better.
