Xenoglossy! Can you translate this: Cabiche no he oso |
|
Everythingsxen was just drifting off to sleep when he had a dream where he saw an apple or pear tree and heard a voice say, "Cabiche no he oso." (I have spelled it as if it were Spanish, so "he" rhymes with "day.") In the dream it was evening and he was on a hillside.
What do those words mean? It could, possibly, have been a "p" rather than a "b" in the first word, so, "Capiche", and the divisions between the words are unclear: "no he oso" or "no he o so". So far the closest guess I've got is it might have been Italian: "Capisci no e oso" meaning "You understand and I do not dare." Does anyone else have any possible translations?
Nothing like a good spooky thing to keep ya up at 4 am wondering...

2. So far Italian seems like the best bet |
|
It's actually somewhat cogent in Italian, it would translate to "You understand, I do not dare."
But what's he doing dreaming random bits of Italian?

Can't help you with the translation, but I can tell you I've had dreams where, in the dream, I spoke fluently in a language I don't know in real life... Brains are weird, like that.

It was quite a long, involved dream, and I just functioned in this other language like it was my native tongue. It was wild. I've learned two other languages well enough to dream in them, and remember those dreams after waking up, but this was nothing like that. Bizarre!

I think it may have been Italian... I speak French and a wee bit of Spanish, so another romance language wouldn't be much of a stretch, but I definitely don't speak Italian fluently!

15. How can I tell whether it was |
|
"Capisci noioso" ("You understand, you bore") or "Capisce no osso" ("I understand you have no bones")? Can "you have no bones" be interpreted as "you're spineless"?

14. The brain is an odd thing... |
|
He might have heard that phrase in a movie or at a supermarket or something, had his interest piqued by it, and consciously forgotten about it, but subconsciously retained it to have it come back up in a dream.
Are there any places he's been recently where he would have heard Italian spoken?
