1. Any of 'em. Really.
At least of the many I've been to. Had great times in Vancouver. Been snowbound in Saskatoon (really). Camped in the summer in Inuvik. Enjoyed the scenery of Wawa.

It's a grand, wide land, full of amazing geography that's unlike anything else on Earth.

Now, all I need is a nice Canadian husband so I can get my citizenship. (Or, failing that, a nice Canadian job offer so I can get my residency.)

4. Toronto seems nice.
My French is probably good enough to manage in Montreal.

I really need to visit the town in Saskatchewan that has my last name. I think the person with that name who founded it must have been a distant relative. Someday I'll get there.

11. Canmore, Alberta
minutes from Banff, but not nearly as touristy.

I stopped in there on my way to Vancouver, and fell in love with it. When we retire, that just might be the place.

Incidentally, John Carpenter's "The Thing" was filmed there.

24. Calgary's very wealthy and the mountains are extraordinary
The actual city is quite dull, testament to massive recent growth. We need lots of people from DU to move here to fight the Canadian Right, so come on in!

But at least it's not Edmonton.

It's the setting that makes it great.

23. welcome to my home...
http://www.city.nanaimo.bc.ca/

http://www.tourism.nanaimo.bc.ca/

We don't actually live in Nanaimo proper, but it's the closest city. 20 minutes by seaplane to Downtown Vancouver, or 90 minutes via car ferry. 90 minutes north of Victoria, by car.

Nice place, Nanaimo, although it's a bit rough around the edges. Was a resource based economy for years (coal, fishing, logging), and trying to re-invent itself as a tourist destination. Bit of a biker problem, but nothing that gets in the way of the average honest citizen.

... for two reasons.

1) the women there have curves. must be the water.

2) there's a sign on the road leading into town that says "Regina Is A Nuclear Free Zone"

17. I'm told London, Ontario is nice ...
... and I guess I'll be checking it out soon. We'll emigrate and liquidate the property we have in the U.S. (If Canada will have us, that is.)

I should be able to shop for an apartment in a couple weeks, and I guess--considering the mindset that grips this country (not the country I grew up in)--I'll establish an address while Mari and I prepare to expatriate.

O Canada ... I hope they'll welcome us.

28. Edson, Alberta
Near Jasper National Park. I was broke down and spent 3 days there when my axle oil froze up. Very beautiful place and the people were very friendly.

A waitress apologized for me being stuck there and my reply was it's not a bad place to be stuck.

30. Toronto is like a second home to me.
My boyfriend lives there.

Toronto is just like Chicago, my home. I feel instantly at home when I go to TO. Wonderfully diverse, great culture, resturants. Very gay friendly. Plus, the new Mayor, David Miller, sounds like a good, progressive force for the city.

I'd move there in a heartbeat.

And, a minor point. But I love the streetcars. :-)

other hand, anywhere in/near the Canadian Rockies would be more my speed, not being much of an urban person (except for short visits)
