I have three-day-old spaghetti sauce sitting in the fridge... |

Edited on Fri Dec-09-05 10:53 PM by Err
do you think it's still safe to eat?
I used half of it and put it back in the fridge. It's still in its original can and it's covered, but the cover is just resting on top of it.
Edit: It smells fine and looks fine.

Spaghetti sauce can keep for a while in the fridge. Unless there is visible mold on it, it should be OK.

I've got my sources.
That's about it.
I took a nap at 3:00, woke up at 5:00...got my sources.
Tomorrow...I start typing. :( I'm done for the night. I'm sick of researching.

8. I got curious and hunted up the info: |
|
"Once a can is opened, adopt the same storage precautions for the contents of a can as you would for fresh food of the same kind. This is because contamination is possible as soon as the can is opened and some of the contents removed. Some foods may be stored in the can in the refrigerator and partly used cans should be covered with plastic. However, there are some preserved foods which do not store well in cans. Highly acid or salted foods such as pickled foods, fruit juices or tomato products do attack tinplate in the presence of air and they should be transferred to a glass or plastic container before refrigerating."

12. If it tasted okay, it shouldn't be a problem |

When tomato sauce attacks metal it starts tasting nastily metallic.
