Low carb milkshakes?
Though I wouldn't be dumb enough to eat KFC fried chicken or any meat that's terribly high in fat content all day, I do see some benefit in the Atkin's diet: Low carbs.

Are there low-carb, great tasting, but low-carb yummy chocolate milkshakes?

I need to indulge... :9

Thx!

1. Doesn't Atkins have a line of low cab products?

I think included in them is a milkshake.

Yup, I was right:

2. Designer Protein
You buy it in powder form. I like to add soymilk and crushed ice and blend it up in the blender. (Of course, you can use cow milk if you want.) Also, if you don't mind adding a few carbs, toss in a banana - mmmm...chocolate banana - the banana adds a nice consistency.

And if you don't mind adding a few extra fat grams, add a spoonful of peanut butter....mmmm chocolate peanut butter.

They also have it in vanilla which is also very good. You can make a whole bunch of different kinds of protein shakes depending on what you want to add (berries, juice, yogurt, ice cream...etc)

I think the Atkins diet is sorta on the right track, but I wouldn't limit vegetables (except for the starchy ones like potatoes) and I would stick to lean meats and fish. The free-for-all on fat is where it goes wrong in my mind. That's just my 2 cents.

6. Peanut butter has a 'good' type of fat,...
All nuts contain a good kind of fat, forgot the name... doesn't mean your diet should be exclusively nuts, but they are good for ya.

And I totally agree with your assessment of the Atkin's diet. :D

8. monounsaturated?
I'm not sure if peanuts fall into that category....I think they're middle of the road as far as nuts go (some mono and some sat fat). Almonds and walnuts are better I think. I keep almonds around for a healthy snack - but only a small handful at a time.

My mom is on (off and on) Atkins and I worry about her cholesterol and blood pressure among other things. She used to be very nutritionally minded but all that went out the window when her cousin lost 30 lbs. on Atkins. She eats things like bacon, butter and cheese like there's no tomorrow. *sigh* Hopefully she will come to her senses and get back to moderation soon.

3. Yummy high protein shakes....
can be made in many ways with different
ingredients. I like to use this one.

1)milk (or) cream and water.
2)protein powder
3)cottage cheese
4)small amount of no sugar jello (strawberry)
5)additional sweetener in the form of Splenda

Blend until very smooth.

Experimenting is fun and if you are not limited
by how much sugar you can have you can add fruits
or even ice cream. Some like raw egg but I am
squimish to this.

4. If you want low carb chocolate....
there is a product called "Walden Farms" calorie
free shocolate syrup in the diet section of food
stores. It has...

0 fat
0 calories

I don't know how they do it. Probably isn't good
for us in some way as most things are anymore but
it does taste good and I use it in moderation.

7. I use these from time to time...
And you can buy sugar/carb-free syrups from Davinci that let's you "shake up the flavor," a little. These are really pretty good.
