oneighty's shopping trip and a dream |
|
There were times past that I was a Salvation Army bell ringer, standing for several hours in the cold and snow, ringing my little bell with enthusiasm, taking money from people some of whom really have no money to give.
On other occaisions I stand selling "Buddy Poppies" for the VFW proudly wearing tokens of the military in which I served many years again taking money from people some of whom really have no money to give.
In the case of the Salvation Army I became upset when they tried to make deals with the U.S. Government to allow them special privilege in their hiring and firing. I stopped bell ringing I stopped donating.
In the case of my local VFW in which I was an elected officer I stopped selling "Buddy Poppies" and stopped buying them when I learned first hand the monies were misused.
On entering the grocery store there is a man selling patriotic trinkets. He has a hand painted sign "Veteran's Out Reach Program". I tell him I am a disabled Veteran and that I have never heard of his outfit. I ask for some literature concerning his organization. He has none. He talks a bit about the WW 2 war memorial in Washington. I believe he is ripping off the public. Perhaps he is truthful. I will find out.
Oneighty's "I Have A Dream" That just maybe there is a second coming. Jesus shows up on earth, says "Holy Shit" and he goes forth around his world and cleans out the temples of greed once again. Further on in my "I have a dream" He is nailed once again to the cross. The money changers go free.

I'm shocked by the sheer amount of ripping off that goes on. I think it's why I take such sheer joy in sending care packages to Iraq - I know they will be 100 per cent enjoyed and appreciated by exactly the people I intended to receive them.

Not suitable for DU. I have tried some in the lounge, but they sink like a rock. Few find them of any interest. I am putting them in paperback (Self published) Some day I will send you one Muse Rider.
Thanks for your on going support!

It's a shame that others have their fingers in the pie to ruin it for all.
Pretty typical about greed though.
Always good to read your posts 180.
