Rebecca, my grand daughter strikes again!
When I first started telling tales on Rebecca she could not talk very well. She has been real sneaky, suddenly growing to be four. Like all kids she loves flashlights.

Recently I bought a new flashlight just for me. I hid it where only I can find it. Rebecca says " Grammpa, look at this flash light I just found" I say "Whoa Becky, that is my flashlight."

She says " You better put your name on it."

1. Love it!
Get another flashlight and go play flashlight tag with her outside after dark. Or go for flashlight walks. I used to do those things with my kids when they were little.

2. Rebecca
has her eyes set on my flashlight right now! Alas, I am too old and feeble to play "Flashlight" ever again.

3. The girl needs a mini mag lite of her own
Buy her one for the holidays with extra batteries and extra tiny lite bulbs...She can drop it on the floor and it won't break...

4. It is amazing how kids develop language skills.
Even though multiples are notorious for being late developing language skills (at least for communicating with grown-ups -- they develop their own lingo early on that none of us will EVER understand and that they will use among themselves all their lives) at age 3, they are now getting to be so good at talking with us. At times they are difficult to understand (better in person than on the phone), but the thoughts they put together and articulate are amazing -- and sometimes totally embarrassing.

6. I agree
with the poster above. A perfect gift from her grandpa, her own flashlight. My mom was good at that when I had kids. They went through a flag thing for a while and she got them little American flags and made a stand for them. They were thrilled. We went on to flashlights, one year one of them was into dinosaurs, popcorn and coke and that is just what he got from her. Go with it. A precious story 180!

7. Flashlights. Brings back a memory.
Edited on Sat Nov-22-03 08:13 PM by Ilsa
My dad needed to get something for my two boys for Christmas. On the way over on Christmas Eve he stopped at a $1 store and got each of my kids a cheap flashlight. They played with those $1 items more than they messed with all the expensive stuff we had gotten them.

Grandpas are so smart.

Kids at her age pick up so much from other children, too, and any other models you provide for them. My four year old's language was behind, but now his speech is growing by leaps and bounds every day.

10. Man, that must be universal
My 4yo has killed more flashlights in her life, than I thought was possible.
I have taken to hiding them very well. So well, I can't find them when I need them.

Thanks for the laugh, shipmate.
