Alternate route from DC to Mamaroneck, avoiding GW bridge
I'm going to my brothers for xmas weekend and would like to avoid the nightmare on Friday evening of trying to cross the GW bridge. Last year it took us 1 1/2 hours to go from the toll backup to the Henry Hudson parkway. Any way to avoid that mess.

1. Can you use the Tappan Zee? I used to drive to White Plains from PA on it

2. Never gone that route
I was thinking about it, my brother isn't so sure it would be an improvement. Even if it is a longer route I may arrive in the same amount of time, and with my sanity intact.
