Lol: I'm totally hormonal, crying over West Wing, unplug my phone, please. |
|
They just showed the Zoe rescue sequence, followed by the christmas/Toby dead homeless veteran sequence.
These people have so much heart. Snif.
Someone slap me.
Thank god I wasn't like this at work today.

1. Yeah, Aristotle thought drama was pretty powerful, too. |

I'm glad there's still some out there.

and I still get weepy over The West Wing. Watching it when it first aired, back when BC was prez and the United States walked strong and proud in the world and everybody loved our guy--well, friends, what a falling off there's been. After five years, I can still scarcely believe it.
It hurts to watch it now. It really, really hurts.

I've seen the Toby - Homeless Vet episode three times, and it ALWAYS dissolves me into a puddle of tears. It's not every TV writer who can come up with an 'instant Christmas classic' episode in year one of a series, but that certainly is the case here. It's especially relevant these days, when we see on a daily basis how badly our returning soldiers from Iraq are being treated.

"I guess there just weren't enough beds for Walter"
POTUS: "If we start pulling strings like this, you don't think every homeless veteran will come out of the woodwork?" Toby: "I can only hope, sir."
I still want to know what Josh wrote on the jacket of the book he gave Donna.

6. Yeah, but she really levels the playing field when Santos runs and |

she works for the other side. That's what finally gets his motor running.

the Christmas episode where Josh suffers PTSD and sits with Dr. Keyworth (Adam Arkin). The highlight of the episode for me is near the end when Josh comes out of the meeting and Leo tells Josh the story of the guy who fell down the hole...
"This guy's walking down the street when he falls in a hole. The walls are so steep he can't get out. A doctor passes by and the guy shouts up, 'Hey you. Can you help me out?' The doctor writes a prescription, throws it down in the hole and moves on. Then a priest comes along and the guy shouts up, 'Father, I'm down in this hole can you help me out?' The priest writes out a prayer, throws it down in the hole and moves on. Then a friend walks by, 'Hey, Joe, it's me can you help me out?' And the friend jumps in the hole. Our guy says, 'Are you stupid? Now we're both down here.' The friend says, 'Yeah, but I've been down here before and I know the way out.'"
"As long as I've got a job, you've got a job."
"Bartlet for America" will follow at midnight. In the opening scene Josh tells Leo he will try to get a Congressman out of the room so he can't question Leo. Leo : "Don't help me." Josh : "I'm gonna help you, 'cause you know why?" Leo : "'Cause you walk around with so much guilt about everybody you love dying that you're a compulsive fixer?" Josh: "No, Leo, no. It's 'cause a guy's walking down the street and he falls into a hole, see?"
I hate this show sometimes. It makes me remember how good things used to be in this country...
