Seriously, I hope you have a good visit. It's cold but still beautiful in the city.

7. I'm just going there to staple a car key to my brother's forehead |
|
He's working for United, left his spare set of keys at the parents house in Houston...locked his keys in his car yesterday and had to pay a locksmith over $80 to get into his car. I told him I'd FedEx him the key, but he says it's more fun this way.

3. not too much to do in 5 hours |

or at least not much that can be fully appreciated. My suggestion: Grab some Deep-dish pizza (Giordano's) or an Italian Beef (Johnnies) If you need to know where these are, just let me know.

6. Well, it will be the first time I've ever been to Chicago... |
|
So, I don't know where anything is. I'm flying into O'Hare, so the closer the better. I asked my brother what the high is tomorrow...28. Holy shit...it was over 70 here today )of course, a few days ago we were under freeze warnings). BRRRRRRR!

the website for the pizza is Giordanos.com, they have store locations. Another good website is Metromix.com, they have all the restaurants and events in Chicago, plus ratings and directions!

10. Cool...I'll check those out!! |

My brother seems to think I should just sit in the airport all day. I know Tom Hanks had a lot of fun living in the airport in Terminal, but I'd rather try to see something. Of course, the weather might get me. I'm reading Bush's Brain, it will definitely be with me, just in case.

There is an El from ORD to the Loop.
$1.75 each way. Are you going to the Loop?

13. I have no idea where I'm going |
|
My brother works at the airport, and is currently living in a hotel close to the airport. He wasn't real detailed on plans, just that he wants his car key.

or if you have more time go to Tompolbampo. About the 350 block of Clark. Finest Mexican resturants in America (but my second favorite in Chicago).

In the Burnham Hotel at Washington and State. Cool room (and a really neat hotel) and the food is not bad. Lunch in the Lopp can be tough because most folks want to eat real fast.
Let me also say I have had Mexican food in Texas but my previous recommendations are way better than whatever i got in Texas.

As for the Mexican food...I've had the Tex-Mex, and I've had the real deal. When we lived in SC for three years, all I wanted was a good enchilada...I just couldn't find one.

15. go to the Hancock Building... |
|
and go up to the Signature Lounge on the 96th floor, I believe, and get a drink while you take in the view - it's amazing! If you are a girl, go into the bathroom up there - great view.

and the boy's bathroom doesn't have any windows at all. It is well worth the trip into town from O'Hare.

It's free to get in the place but the drinks are pricey - maybe $8 average, if I remember correctly.
