A reflection on today
one of my favorite poems, as requested by a friend

You tell me that I must perish

like the flowers that I cherish

Nothing remaining of my name,

Nothing remembered of my fame?

But the gardens that I planted are still young--

The songs I sang will still be sung

Huexotzin Prince of Texcoco, CA 1484

1. That's pretty.
Days just seem to shoot past too quick.

3. More reflections
Ozymandias Percy Bysshe Shelley

I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert...Near them, on the sand
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
and wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculpter well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifless things
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed:
And on thepedestal these words appear:
My name is Ozymandias, kink of kings:
Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!"
Nothing beside renmains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands streach far away.
