Anybody remember KPPC from Pasedena
IT was theeeee 1st "underground FM" station. Was actually broadcast from the basement of a church. That was in the late 60's. The illegal broadcasters used the church deal to protect them from reactionary cops. It took very little time for the "commercial scum" to realize that FM was the "next big thing". Those were the days: comercial free drug inspired "album" ROCK music!

1. not to be confused with KPCC
from Pasadena CC -- yes, when I first moved to Burbank in around '68, I could swear I saw a bumpersticker ... or am I just hallucinating?

4. OK I cop to the spelling error
Pasadena! But i still think it was KPPC... Anyway I'm glad I didn't just dream the whole thing up.... Ya got to be an old timer to remember this kind o stuff!.... It's too damn bad that we have to relive the whole Vietnam (needless quagmire) era.... History repeats if ya live too long.

7. Wasn't the "PPC" for "Pasadena Presbyterian Church?"

I think the station had it's beginnings in a church basement, or some such.

On edit: Sorry, Ernesto, I see that you totally know the station's history!!!

I guess this is directed more towards those out in los angeles.
Remember Y107 and channel 103.1? they would play things that weren't
heard of or would never be hear of again 'cause it was so good.

5. Are those the stations that blasted a million gigawatts out
of Baja? I remember those. There was also a pirate station on a ship off Long Beach for a while, what was that one called?

6. Apparently Channel 103.1
"world class rock" was owned by clear channel. Hmmm, but they played really good rock like shelby lynn and chris isaak.
The Long Beach station your talking about might be Knac 105.1 "pure rock." It became a station for spanish music in the mid 90's.
