I have 4 comforters on my bed. Something about electric blankets just doesn't sit right with me.

It's a sweltering 68 in my bedroom. It's 18 degrees outside. May open a window, yet.

A light one for summer with AC and a heavy one for winter. I am in Chicago. Thankfully still on the lightweight one, but think I need to get the heavy one out soon.

The hot flashes eliminate the need for lots of blankets, regular or electric.

We need to preheat the bed before getting in because we only heat one room (living room) in winter. Once in, the electric blanket is turned off and the blankets and a medium weight comforter takes over. Our dog helps heat the bed on cold night, too.

I hate electric blankets-- always thought I'd wake up on fire or with third degree burns, not to mention the elctromagnetic forces....
