School Bus Driver Duct-Taped 5 Year Old's Mouth Shut

DUNEDIN, Fla. -- Authorities in Pinellas County are investigating allegations that a bus driver put duct tape on a 5-year-old's mouth.

The Gerber family has filed a criminal complaint with the sheriff's office and the school system. They said their son's bus driver duct taped his mouth shut Monday afternoon while the bus monitor did nothing.

The boy said they took the tape off before his stop.

"It hurt when you take it off, and when you put it on you, it's a little bit sticky," said Kyle Gerber.

Authorities said the video system on the bus was not working at the time.

School officials have taken the bus driver and monitor off the route while they investigate.
