How are you quitters doing?
Last week several people posted that were quiting smoking. How's everybody doing? Hanging in there? It's officially 22 days nicotine free for me now.

2. CONGRATS
Edited on Sun Nov-23-03 02:25 AM by lcordero
:)
I've been off of it since the 6 of July of 2001. The patch helped me out in the first two weeks. It didn't take the craving away, it took enough of an edge from the craving in order for it to be tolerable. I know that if I smoke again I won't be able to stop...so I just don't.

4. 17 years, 11 months, 18 days. . .
since I last had a cigarette. A friend made the appointment for the treatment center for me. Nicest thing anyone ever did for me with their clothes on.

7. Hmmmm, if you're still counting after this long...

I look forward to being able to say "I have no idea when I quit. It was just a long time ago." I only know it's been 22 days because I quit at midnight on the first of this month.

6. Good for you.!!!
I quit smoking about 20 years ago and I know it's the hardest thing I ever did....Only people who smoke and try to stop will understand your struggle....Hang in there, you CAN WIN!....I haven't had a yen for a cigarette for many years, not even when I have an alcoholic drink, which is when it usually is a problem....Good luck!!

8. I'm working on a different attitude than I've used before.
For the last 30 years every time I've quit (which was four or five times a year) I've always taken the attitude that "I'm trying to quit smoking" and I've always caved in after a week or two.

This time I cultivating the mental attitude "I AM a non-smoker." By putting it in the present tense it becomes an affirmation of what I am instead of an affirmation of what I am not, but wish I was.

9. What ever works!

:)
edit-- I need to add this...The tobacco companies have made the problem much worse in the last few years by making the addictive properties of cigarettes much stronger...My daughter and her husband are trying to quit and are having a very hard struggle...just as you are...
