What the hell is going on?!
Everybody I know, and I mean EVERYBODY, is extremely sad. Some are suicidal. WTF? Is there such a thing as an emotional virus?

13. Pah-leeze, fuck S.A.D.
SAD is just another mechanism for the pharmaceutical companies to make money off people. S.A.D., Adult Attention Deficit Disorder (i.e. boredom), Intermittent Explosive Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Restless legs, Social Anxiety Disorder, Social Phobia, blah, blah, blah. Just a way for you to spend your hard earned money on drugs that with eventually addict you (take it from one whose trying to withdraw from antidepressants and having a hell of a time).

Take a walk, masturbate, listen to some music....

14. I walk, ride, listen to and MAKE music.....
And spank the hide off of my monkey, and I STILL get in the dumps in the winter.

I suppose my diabetes is "all in my head", too?

The good news is that you can get off the anti-depressants. I did.

17. no, SAD is l;egit
but 90 percent of the people who think they have it, don't. it's not a designed diagnosis, the pharmas want OVER diagnosis, so they can sell more pills.

21. tell that to someone who HASN'T had it!
:grr: how insulting - those of us who have had it KNOW it is real. i had SAD when i lived in washington state. it's lack of sunshine, which is in abundant supply there. when i left the state and went back to california, the condition vanished.

3. It's November in Seattle, Tucker...
...a time when it gets dark and rainy, and not yet late enough in the year for Christmas lights to start appearing on houses, making the place look bright and colorful even at night. This is normally a "down" time of the year. It shouldn't last more than another week or so.

We are seeing the fall of the middle class
Another Vietnam
Massive public apathy for politics
Government protectionism by the media
Massive public ignorance
Martial law and physical abuse when protesting
Hatred from 1 out of 2 people in America
Hatred from the entire world
Constant soldier deaths
Biggest debt in history
Relentless unemployment
Biggest pork in history
Billions going to corporations
Benefits being taken away from the unfortunate
30% of people unable to afford food at least at one point this year
Fascism
Democracy being stolen
Hopelessness
Poverty
Hypocrisy
Rising terrorism
Risk of draft
Risk of another war

We're depressed because everything seems hopeless. And if we lose 2004, it's going to get a lot lot worse.

6. I just signed on - haven't seen anyone suicidal??
Don't know what the Miami thing is about, and screw the holidays - are they coming?? S.A.D. has not hit me yet, I've been in the sunshine.

But I felt like crap today and talked to a few friends about it tonight. Suicidal?? No way! Not an option anymore for the past 30 years, but I wouldn't even come here to discuss it. I would just do it.

10. I wanna know what my reason for it is then.
It is coming onto summer for me, now, yet I am very depressed right now, myself. I am on new meds to try and help me cope, but they aren't helping me to cope. LOL

Go figure!

8. Or fuckin' sick with the flu/cough/sniffles.
My kid has had a cold (and the flu) on and off for a month now--and she's passed it on to me. Lovely!
I went to the movies the other night, we were all sitting there coughing and hacking....
I'm so sick of hearing coughs, I can't even tell you. I've gotten to the point now that I'm irritated at being sick much more than I'm feeling sick.

As to your point, I'm on the majorly stressed side right now as well. Doubt that I'm depressed, but I certainly feel a big weight on my back. But hey, I'm a single parent, I'm starting to wonder if that's just my new normal, LOL.

UGH--I think we all need a vacation.

16. I'm not sad
I'm a bit confused lately after being somewhat sad a few days ago, but I'm not sad now really. I try not to let myself let anything get me into a funk because it takes too long for me to pull out of it.

18. I was depressed all summer and I'm still depressed.
For me, it's just an ongoing struggle, although 9-11 and the attack of the Bushies sunk me into the hole once again. It's hard enough to contend with normal life without throwing such a corrupt government into the works. I know other many other countries have corrupt governments, but the blatant corruption of * and his buddies has saddened me immensely, especially since I had to make yet another break with family on core belief systems.
