Guess who I served this morning?

Bill Cosby!

Although he asked if the tip was included (he was staying in one of the most expensive rooms and that always seemed kind of cheap to me) he was genuinely warm and friendly and held his hand out to me to shake. He was engaging on the phone when he called his order in and very nice when I had to call him back about something he asked for that I wasn't sure we had.

So I give him 2 thumbs up!

1. I remember a line in one of his shows

while he is walking along listening to a particularly repulsive youth and he says: "You're a republican aren't you?"

Another:

"you take this car, it's all paid for, and you give it to George Wallace!" (200 MPH)

2. Why can't *I* meet famous people! Waaaah!

Er, I should say that Tommy Mottola winked at me once, and I rode in the elevator with Dave Pirner from Soul Asylum...and I froze up and was totally unremarkable in every way.

And yeah, they're just people like everyone else, blah blah blah, some of them are jerks, some of them are much more unremarkable than I am, blah blah blah...what *is* it about celebrity, anyway?

But still. That's pretty cool about Mr. Cosby.
