1. I just saw it and liked it |

They spent much more time on Skull Island than I expected
quite a ride!
and an unexpectedly believable love story too.
And Naomi Watts can have her way with me anytime she wants. What a stunning actress.
I really enjoyed Jack Black's performance too.

It was wonderful.
The first 45 minutes were more about character building and while they could have edited it down, making us wait that long made for a better pay-off when we finally got a good full look at Kong.
Naomi Watts, Adrian Brody and Kong (Andy Serkis) were all *great.* If anything, the CGI was even better than LotR, it was that seamless.
I haven't seen the original since I was little, so can't really compare it to that. While the 1970s version was more political (oil) this movie had a lot of heart. It also had a lot to say about exploitation.
I could have done without the revolving-around-the-top of the Empire State Building shots at the end; got dizzy and had to look away from the screen.

3. It was tedious and loud. |

And had nothing of substance to offer that the other TWO King Kong movies didn't. Only saving grace was Naomi Watts, IMHO.
