I've noticed it popping up in non-British, non-Canadian media - TV, magazines.
It as if all of a sudden, people in the US started spelling gray with an "e".
Am I the only one who notices "whilst"? Is it Brit/Canadian or just archaic?

now that we don't notice the use of "go missing" any more.
actually, I use "whilst" and I'm not British. then again, in second grade when we were taught contractions and were asked to raise our hands and give examples, I said "shan't". teacher looked at me funny, then said, "Well... yes, that's a contraction."
