Where Does One Find Beatles Bootlegs?
I'm a big Beatles fan and I'd love to get a few good ones. Does anyone know where to get them or what are some good ones with good sound quality?

Also, though this is much more obscure, has anybody heard of the song "Watching Rainbows" by John Lennon. Supposedly it's an unreleased unfinished Lennon Beatles composition from the Get Back sessions. What's it like?

1. Hmmm
If you want good sound quality, purchase it.

Always purchase something you really like.

However, for try-before-you-buy or for mediocre stuff, I see nothing wrong with other means of acquisition.

I mean, if Apple and Microsoft don't pay Xerox royalties for taking their creations and marketing them under a different name...

2. The Problem Isn't Purchasing It
The problem is finding it in the first place.

I'll keep my eyes and Notebook open...I'm a bigger Beatles fan than most (veteran of their concert in Shea Stadium).

3. DON'T BUY!!!
Don't support the scum who sell this stuff. You can get pretty much anything you want for the cost of blank discs and postage. If you're so inclined, there's probably a few Usenet groups where you can aquire such things. (Personally, go for SHN files, which can be easily expanded. They're bigger than mp3, but they're lossless.)

You might want to check bootlegzone.com and tapetrader.com. The former has info about almost every Beatles bootleg out there, and the latter can probably connect you to some friendly folks who will hook you up with a B&P (blanks and postage). There's also a Direct Connect hub that you can probably aquire stuff through.

Keep this thread kicked, and I'll give it some more thought. There's also a Direct Connect hub that you can probably aquire stuff through.

The problem is finding the music that may exist in the first place.

If a guy just happened to take his cassette recorder to the Star Club in Hamburg, Germany or to the Cavern Club in Liverpool and haven't sold the rights already...what's the problem?

Oh, I forgot that Michael Jackson bought the rights to the Beatles music and traded them to a multi-national corporation for a loan on future earnings...and lost it when he couldn't arrange payments in a timely manner.

Who's the scum and what's the problem if we direct our money to the artist or the fan who made the chance recording in the first place?

The GOP, AOL/Time Warner, Apple, Disney or (insert opinion here) can buy and shape their opinion now...before I start another damm poll.

5. Go to file sharing sites

I found a few interesting Beatles boots on Kazaa Lite, Bearshare (Gnutella), and others. Also try WinMX.

Don't support the dirtbags that sell this stuff. If you absolutely must have it, seek it out online.

You can go to the Ultimate Band List (http://ubl.artistdirect.com/music/artist/webs/0,,402274,00.html) and check out the fan pages for discographies of the boots.

The dirtbags that turned me on to good music in the first place were the Beatles and at Shea Stadium no less.

You can parade anything you want to, but there is a lot of "stuff" that isn't comercially available nor would be of any interest to you.

I, as a "niche" market, feel free to disagree on your terms since the first "Concert" I attended was the Beatles at Shea Stadium.

...and a few good friends saved me from a life of Elvis forever....

I'm fifty, grew up with Vietnam and you can'r recognize my contribution to DU?

7. By 'dirtbags', I mean the ones making a living selling other people's musi
But if it's a real hard-to-find, I guess it's worth the money.

Not sure what you're talking about, Don. Did I flame you?
