I won't even show it to my electrical engineer husband... he'd be laughing his head off.

And imagine -- there is some woman actually married to His Twistedness, the Tombstoned Hunter! YIKES!

Thanks for the post (I think). I won't be going THERE again...

Seriously - what sick, twisted thing is it in our minds that makes us keep watching something that is totally grossing us out and that we KNOW we will regret having watched? I've noticed this in the past, and wonder if there is a psychological explanation for it.

Anybody?

the narrative started as "i thought i might dig a hole for some reason" when clearly he was planning on shooting stuff. it took a couple pages to get to the guns, but i kinda figured that when he built a bunker, there'd be shooting involved. makes you wonder how many dogs he's gone through.

20. It's weirdly compelling.
I was a little disappointed when it turned out he was making a blind to shoot random animals. Not just because I'm not much for shooting random animals (even copperheads who are coming to bite you while you eat pigs-in-blankets in your hole(!)), but because I wanted him to be digging that hole for absolutely no purpose but that he had an unshakeable compulsion to dig a big hole.

but why can't this kind of creativity/imagination, as FUBAR as this is, be channelled into something that will truly benefit society? Like an engine that doesn't FUBAR the environment. A fun, healthy long-term weight loss program. A cure for the common cold. A way to serve the country without putting on a uniform and picking up a rifle.

32. This is so poignant
About 2 years ago I decided to dig a hole in my back yard.
Why?
Why not.
Its good exercise and I could get a tan too. Plus holes are cool.
I don't remember what set me off on this venture at this time but when I was a kid we would dig lots of holes and tunnels and cover them with scrap wood and dirt and use them as hide outs and camps.
At some point or another I made this plan in 3ds max for my hole.

him to kill people.

He makes his young sons help him. One is glad to do it, and the other thinks he's nuts and goes to the cops.

When the cops don't believe him and take him home, his dad's only punishment is to give him a shovel and say "dig."

It looks like fun, it's creative and inventive, and he enjoyed it.

What's so scary about it? That he brought a cat out to get a mouse? Geez, no farmer has ever thought to have a cat to get rid of mice. Please, people.

And he shot a copperhead? This is somehow "nutty"? To protect ourself from a poisonous snake?

77. You're right - the hole and the guns alone don't set him apart from as
many people as DUers might like to think. And the guy has a sort of mad-creativity-trapped-in-the-body-of-a-redneck thing that's interesting. But, fuckedupednesswise, consider this:

1. He dug a hole not that far from his house (and his little daughter and his wife and dog) with the express purpose of shooting animals from it. And I might be wrong, but the window appears to point towards his house.

2. He sits in the hole and eats pigs-in-blankets. If he ate them in his home, he wouldn't have to worry about being stalked by copperheads.

3. He shot his wife by remote control. His daughter was an accessory to this. He appears to be a devoted father, but those welts on his wife's back call his uxoriousness into serious question.

4. He put all this on the internets.
