Very sad... RIght before Christmas... My friends aunt passed this morn... |
|
She emailed me this morning. Her aunt had been battling breast cancer for a couple of years, and passed at about 5 a.m this morning. She was surrounded by her friends and family when she went...
My friend is a very nice person. She's always been funny and kind to me. I never met her aunt... but she talked about her. Apparently, she was the really cool aunt that always gave you exactly what you wanted for your birthday, and helped you with clothes, and stuff like that... She loved her aunt so much she was going to name her daughter Annie after her.
So... After reading that, I sent her this poem... That another DUer posted in memory of their cat.
Sleep in peace, Annie, sleep in peace.
Beautiful Land
Red is the color of a lot of lollipops,
Orange is any orange on a tree.
Yellows the color of a bag of lemon drops,
Green is a piece of seaweed in the sea.
Blue is the color of the sky in summertime
Indigo is a siamese cats eyes.
Violets the color of a flower in wintertime.
These are the colors of the rainbow skies.
There is a beautiful land
Where all your dreams come true;
Its all tied up in a rainbow,
All shiny and new;
But its not easy to find
No matter what you do.
Its not on top of a mountain
Or beneath the deep blue sea
Or in london zoo or in timbuktoo,
Or in timbuckthree.
And if you traveled the world
From china to peru,
Theres no beautiful land on the chart.
An explorer could not begin
To discover its origin
For the beautiful land is in your heart.

1. I'm so sorry for your friend, and for you. I lost my favorite auntie Dec |
|
17th last year. She was the one who taught me how to be a mom when my own mom fell short, who loved me in spite of my faults, who defended me to the end.... Auntie's are wonderful people. I still, and always will, miss her. She never told us she had lung cancer. :(

2. Cancer= One medical thing I am afraid of |
|
other than heart attacks. Sadly, most of the people in my family have passed thanks to those two.
Cancer is scary. It strikes, and it can take you slowly or quickly, deplete a families funds, and there's still no real good cure for it.

3. She never liked going to doctors, and never really did. It is amazing, |
|
given what we know from the autopsy, that she survived as long as she did...in that kind of pain, without telling anyone. I am frightened of it too. I am more frightened of pneumonia now though, since I came "this close" last year because of it. All we can do is take care of ourselves, and the ones we care about the best we can.
