Male Bengal cat available for adoption....
:

He's neutered, was chocolate with black spots when born but now he's black, with black spots (you can see them in the sun) and he's got beautiful green eyes. He's probably about 5 years old.

The caveat is, he needs to be the ONLY cat in the family, he's used to birds but seems to have territory problems (at least with other male cats). He's also always been an indoor cat.

My friend has three Bengals, and this lovely guy just can't seem to adjust (she's also got a pretty small house, and her ex-husband was not the nicest of fellows & this Bengal seems to be traumatized by his location/memories of mean old Fred (exhusband)). My friend would like to find him a loving, permanent home where he'll be "top cat". He's got purebred papers (though since he's neutered, I guess it doesn't really matter!).

If anyone has any leads, please let me know. The cat currently lives in western North Carolina, so we could easily adopt him out anywhere in the Southeast, though the right family could be anywhere in the country...

I'll check this post often, or feel free to PM me with questions, comments or suggestions.

But I've got 6 at home, lol. I wish you luck placing him, it sounds like he's a real special little guy :) Have you posted this in the NC or other nearvy-state forums?

3. same size as 'regular' cats, they (to me, at least) seem to have
skinnier tails and hind legs. But just lovely coloring, can be a variety of markings... here's a link with some info (though this guy is all black, with black leopard-spots you can see in the light):

He's a sweetie pie, really a very affectionate creature, just doesn't "fit" with his current family too well.

4. Kick. Bengals are beautiful!
Flaxbee, I live in Switzerland and can't adopt a Bengal right now because our Wiley and Excellent Cat Named Ginger prefers being an "only child."

But is this cat a melanistic bengal, like this? Rare and gorgeous!

5. Are you sure he cant be with other cats?
I've successfully raised one who was told he couldnt be around other cats. he did perfectily fine with some adjusting and positive reinforcement. If hes still available, I'd LOVE to adopt him!!

9. he might be OK, just so long as he was away from
the house he grew up in, had traumatic experiences in, etc. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, I got stuck in town all day and am just back home at the computer.

The problem mainly seems to be that he gets territorial and pees in undesirable locations, but that might very well be because there are two other dominant males around. He's a sweetheart, and I do think with the right introduction to other cats, he might be fine.

My friend will be gone for the next 12 days and I'm going to be checking on her cats and birds, but let's stay in touch... can you PM me with your location, and an email address so I can try to put you and my friend together once she gets back so you can talk?

6. Tell your friend to go to YahooGroups.com

After registering, she can put in a search for rescue groups in the Southeast. I have found homes for 3 kittens through rescue group at Yahoo.

7. Not sure if our cat would get along with another cat.
Would you think that Sonia would be able to adapt to another cat? She has finally come out of her shell.

10. Queen Sonia! On her purple throne!
Lol - great photo of her....

I think Sonia'd probably be fine with another cat, because she and Ben were buddies, right? My friend's cat (she's named him Elmore after Elmore Leonard, I think) might be the issue, and would you guys want to deal with another wiggy cat? Elmore's fine with cats, just was traumatized by my friend's jerk of an ex, and doesn't like being male #3. But if his housemate were a female cat, he might be just fine.

My friend will be gone for about two weeks, but I'll let her know you're interested and stay in touch with you via email.

Glad you guys are all well! How's the weather where you are? I talked to our old neighbors in Virginia last night, and they're iced in, can't easily get on or off the mountain. Brrr!
