I did once, unawares.
I'm told I enjoyed them, but since my friend didn't tell me I was eating it at the time, I'll have to take her word for it.
Probably wouldn't have eaten them had she told me, actually. Except it occurs to me that sausage casing is in the same boat with chitlins, re: must clean out the shit first.
I miss that woman and her down home southern cooking. Heart attack on a plate, mind you. But good stuff. Fried potatoes, corn bread, greens. The only thing I couldn't stand was the fat meat.

3. I guess my friend puts a potato in with them |
|
I think that's it. To absorb the smell.

And nutritious too, if ya eat the skin.
My mom used to make something where you'd cut a potato in half, cut it across and lengthwise, smear on some Crisco, salt and pepper them, then back them in the oven. I think you put butter on them at the end too. She called them waffle-weave potatoes.
Heart attack on a plate, like I said. But gooood.

7. CHITTERLINS!!!!!!! OH YES I have. |
|
I'm German... there was a TINY place in the neighbourhood, an ex-GI - when he'd announce he'd have chitterlins the next day there would be a BIG crowd waiting in front of his restaurant. Oh chitterlins... I wish I could have them again... AND cornbread... Chitterlin's, cornbread and greens, that's what I love most about American food :)
