Rant. So I was coming out of Farmer Jack this afternoon,
Someone called my house to tell me that I'd left my drivers license there. On my way out of the store I saw the bell ringer ranting about something but just went over to put a dollar into the pot. No pot. That's what he was ranting about. After 7 hours outside, someone offered to buy him a coffee inside. Right after he went in to get it, someone pulled up and stole the bucket. What kind of scum does this? I know that the Salvation Army is not beloved here but they do good work. They tried to get my daughter sober. 90 bucks for 6 weeks of intreatment, minimal evangelizing. What kind of scum steals from from people who spend their lives working with the down and out?

1. That's terrible.
I honestly don't understand how someone could be so low. :(

2. I just don't get it. I live in a very wealthy area.
It's kind of grown up around me in the last 23 years. I have to believe that this was a prank pulled by entitled teens. The witnesses said it was a late model car with no license plate.

3. I think some thieves are soon to come face to face with Bad Karma.
That's low.

5. Only the poor ones.
The biggest thieves in the world never pay any price. They go to their graves knowing that they were entitled to smash and steal because their priests/ministers tell them so. As long as they're anti-abortion they can rape, maim and kill to achieve wealth, because that's family values.

7. The "materially" rich who do such things are looking for happiness.
But they never will find it.

Not that way.

11. alpha, I respectfully disagree.
Some people find their happiness in wealth, and for them anything justifies the acquisition and protection of it. They live very happy and comfortable lives. I live with the belief that they have to explain their selfish lives to God.

4. Some people are just rotten.
I am just a godless heathen, but I even give to the Salvation Army.

Whoever did it probably does not even care that they have stolen from the poor.

13. Why should they care? Ronald Reagun told us, didn't he?

The poor are poor because they are lazy. The homeless are homeless because they choose to be, because they are too lazy to get a job.
edit for a comma

6. Symptoms of a greater problem.
Salvation Army has its problems and the guy has his problems too. Unfortunately, something far worse is afoot:

In a country/world where our corporate 'leaders' do far more stealing (get your pensions out and stuffed in your boobytrapped matress NOW, amongst other things), I cannot have moral judgment over a guy nickin' a week's worth of food.

Symptoms vs problems.

8. In a world were the wealthy need more and more?
In a world were I need to take a pay cut so Paris Hilton can jet back and forth between coasts to get paid 250thousand dollars to show up at a party because she's so much more worthy to be alive than me? How can you feel that way? You need to put your nose back to the grindstone, and stop trying to start a class war.:P

9. I'd like to think the person(s) who took it
really need the money.

I'd like to think so. And I think I will, just to feel better about the state of humanity and all that.

14. So do I Buffy.
The area I live in, I don't think it was a poor desperate person that did this. I think it was an entitled little princess or prince looking for party money, and bragging later how he/she got it.
