"The Practice" is better than ever, thanks to James Spader
He is great on the show. He plays a very complicated rather self destructive lawyer who was hired by the firm after he alnost lost his right to practice for some illegal activity or other (can't remmember). He is a big improvement over the self absorbed Bobbie and Cissy or whatever the hell her name was.

In addition he is one of those guys who is incredibly sexy. I don't know what it is, but he falls into the John Malkovitch category of men who should not be, but are just drop dead sexual magnets. Maybe I am just odd?

1. I agree..
He plays a rather charmingly disarming rogue, but incredibly adept attorney, who has totally got the rest of the firm about to lose it... He is very good in this role.

2. James Spader is so sexy
He just kind of simmers. I always felt that way about him, even
when he first started out. When he played the evil werewolf
in that Jack Nicholson movie, I believe called 'Wolf' he was
the sexiest werewolf possible. Even looking meaner than heck, he
still looked great - he has beautiful eyes.

3. He was WAY sexier than that BLAINE in Pretty in Pink, LOL!
I first saw James Spader in Pretty in Pink back in the day, and he was the hottest thing in that movie.

I've not seen him on The Practice, but I just ought to, I agree with the person who said he simmers. I really like the acting choices he makes.

4. Totally agree
His role is the perfect compliment to his predecessor,Bobby Donall (played by Dylon McDermot)

Bobby Donall was this good and decent guy who had the legal profession tear him down and break him. Allan Shore is a lawyer who was already "down" and is now finding purpose and redemption in practicing the law (despite his ethical challenges)

It is a very compelling storyline and I have to give DEK credit. I didn't think he had it in him.

9. yes, good analysis
he is the rich corporate lawyer who had lost his soul and is finding it in practicing on a different level. I got kind of sick of the show last year but this year is better than ever. It is back on my do not miss list.

13. When did all of this happen, LOL?
I thought Spader was doing some guest thing, and then he's on The Daily Show (and I fell asleep!), and now it's like, his show???

Oy!

Where did Bobby go (I don't really mind, though, he was getting boring and I didn't like his wife, I hope she went too!)?

Oh for sure I'm there Sunday night.

All James all the time! Or, er, all James Sunday nights at 10!

5. I always wondered why she hated him so much in PIP
I think that the casting was way off in that one, just switch McCarthy and Spader and I probably would enjoy the movie. Now when ever I watch it I just get mad that she is so dumb!!

James Spader is one of my top ten hot guys. If I have time I might start watching the Practice, when does it come on? Also his character is not hooking up with Sharon Stone is he? I hate her, she is one of those chics in Hollywood that I feel perfectly comfortable calling that 4 letter C word.

Cheers on the thread, I always like thinking about James Spader.

6. 10:00 on Sundays
If you're a Spader fan you should be watching. It is clearly his show now.

Stone had a limited (I think 3 shows) appearance. She was quite extraordinary actually (and I wasn't a huge fan of hers either.) She is expected back for another guest shot later but it doesn't look like she and Alan Shore will be hooking up. She plays an insane lawyer who believes that God speaks to her. A very meaty role.

7. He is great in this
his character reminds me of the one in Sex Lies and Videotape.
There is definately something going on with him but we don't have the whole picture yet.
He also comes up with some great zingers.
Only started watching this show because of him - it always seemed to overwrought and whiney (especially that couple) when I checked it before.

10. Oh Yeah!
White Palace is on my list of favorite movies of all time! Damn, he is yummy isn't he? I might be one of the few people who didn't think he was particularly sexy in 'Pretty in Pink', however, I loved him in 'Stargate'. He's just plain one of my favorite actors, and I dont think he's ever gotten enough credit for his acting.
I've never watched 'The Practice', but I think I'll have to give it a try now.
Thanks for the heads up.

11. I agree
I can't vouch for the sexy part, not being wired that way, but Spader has improved this show immmensely. He actually makes the show fun to watch.
