In speaking of Christmas
Edited on Mon Nov-24-03 03:38 AM by Valerie5555
In speaking of Christmas, just wondered if the threat of another terrorist attack ever put a damper on anyone's Christmas spirit.

On edit part of me thinks the "terrorist menace" is pure BS designed to give the bureaucrats and mandarins a greater excuse to have more power and control over our lives, and part of me is worried about all the "martial law" talk.

2. Maybe a part of me wished I could turn the clock back to at least 1999
when we were able to rest easy knowing that Messrs Clinton and Gore successfully kept the terrorists from making things too "Y2 Krazy" if anyone knew what I meant.

4. Hi Valerie
nice to "see" you. :hi: Not so long ago people were asking if you were still here because no one could recall having seen you lately, glad you're still with us. :bounce: :-)

5. No. Call me fatalist, but....
I've lived on military bases, next door to them, or in other "strategic zones" all of my life.

I literally grew up being in a first strike zone for nuclear warfare, and grew up in the "My ICBM is bigger than your ICBM" days of Raygun. I've known since I was old enough to know that if the balloon goes up, there's nothing I can do.

(I spent several years living right next door to Cheyenne Mountain, home of NORAD, in Colorado Springs.)

Besides, I'm not Christian and do not celebrate Christmas.

6. Nope.
But then I wasn't terribly surprised on 9/11. Shocked, yes. Horrified, yes. But I knew the possibility of attack was just as real on 9/10 and in the years preceding. I guess it comes from traveling and seeing and reading about attacks around the world long before 9/11. Anyway, there's no sense in hiding. We flew to France for the holidays in 2001, flying out of the same airport as the shoe bomber only days after that incident. Those holiday memories are among the greatest in our storybooks. It was a joyous trip.

Enjoy yourselves!

7. From what terrorists?
Why would anyone attack the USA?

The afghanis and the iraqis are more interested in defending their homelands from the terrorists who've invaded them.

They don't have much resources to come over here on a donkey.
