didn't. I'll start. I have two in mind.
1) I was at the Wall in DC with my sister and a teenage boy next to me said to another teen, "I don't know what's so important about the Wall?" My sister and I just looked at each other, stunned. I wanted to yell at him but I held back. I should have said something.
2) I was at Cooperstown in the Negro Leagues section with the same sister and a teenage boy next to me said to another teen, "Why are they in the Hall of Fame?" Again, I just stood there shocked.
Please know that now that I'm older I would say something.
Now it's your turn. Go!

When I had lymphoma (almost 19 years ago), and my cousin was asking me very pointed questions about my condition. (He had just found out he was HIV positive and many of the symptoms are similar to the symptoms of lymphoma). He talked about meeting a nice woman and getting married some day (I knew he was gay). I wish I had told him that I knew he was gay. Three years later, he died of AIDS and I did not get to properly say goodbye. It haunts me to this day.
He was afraid to tell the extended family that he had AIDS, so I did not know he had it until 3 days before he died.

Which "they" was the kid at the HOF talking about? Guys who played in the Negro Leagues in general? Did he seem to think it was some sort of honorary designation?
Apparently he wasn't familiar with the likes of Josh Gibson, Satchel Paige and Cool Papa Bell. :eyes:

Two teenybopper girls in front of me were amazed when Bowie did "The Man Who Sold The World", and said:"it's cool that he played that Nirvana song". I wanted to reach out with both hands, cup their heads and smash them together, for being stupid.

all wrapped up in one bundle.
About six months ago I was on my way home on the Metro Bus. There was a young girl of about 17 or 18 with two small children. Well, one was a small child and the other was an infant. As children that age will do, they were cranky and crying and being very demanding. The mother kept screaming at them to shut up; not just screaming, but cursing and saying the most vile things to her children. I can't count the times she told them to, "shut your fucking mouth", and, "goddammit, I'll beat the shit out of you". After a while, she started smacking the toddler in the back of the head every time the little girl cried or whined. Of course, that just made it worse. Between the cursing, the slapping, and the arm jerking I thought I was going to puke on my shoes and I couldn't imagine what those two little children must have felt like.
To my everlasting shame I didn't say a word, nor did anyone on the bus. We all just sat there like bumps on a log letting and ignorant, stressed out, out of control teen aged mother abuse her children.
I think about it every once and a while and wonder what has become of that dysfunctional little family.
